Gulf of who?

According to international standards the name remains stood as gulf of Mexico. However U.S classifies it as gulf of America within federal agencies.

In other words ,

 Globally accepted and official name: Gulf of Mexico

• Name used by U.S. government (as of early 2025): Gulf of America

But who owns the gulf’s rights?

3 countries(U.S,Mexico,Cuba) are boredered with the Gulf

• Fish

• Drill for oil and gas

• Conduct scientific research

• The U.S. and Mexico both have major offshore oil and gas operations in their EEZs.

• The area known as the "Western Gap" is a shared region where the U.S. and Mexico came to an agreement on how to divide rights.

• Cuba has a much smaller area, but it has also conducted exploratory drilling.

🧭 In the middle of the Gulf

The high seas beyond the EEZs are not “owned” by any country but are open to all for navigation, under international law.
